Cream Frame Granny Blanket – Crochet Pattern PDF
Single-colour granny squares • Cream frames and joins • Scalloped border • 3 sizes • 22-page PDF • Instant download

Granny squares in thirteen jewel tones — burgundy, rust, forest, plum and more — each framed by one crisp cream round, joined with a raised cream seam and finished with a scalloped edge. Classic, cosy, and a gift for anyone with a basket of single skeins. It is the blanket that ends up on every sofa.
This pattern is in English, US terms, with a UK conversion table. One PDF is included with your purchase.

⚠️ This is a DIGITAL CROCHET PATTERN (PDF), not a finished blanket. You will crochet the blanket yourself. The PDF is available to download right after purchase.

🧵 ABOUT THE PATTERN
Every square is the same classic granny square: eight rounds in one colour, then one round in cream. Block them, lay them out from the colour chart, and join them with a single crochet seam on the right side that leaves a fine raised cream line between every square. Two rounds of single crochet and a round of scallops finish the edge. The border is counted stitch by stitch for every size, so the scallops come out even on every side without guessing.

📏 SIZES
Square Throw: 5 × 5 = 25 squares — 117.5 × 117.5 cm (46.3 × 46.3 in) — the one shown
Sofa Throw: 5 × 6 = 30 squares — 117.5 × 140.0 cm (46.3 × 55.1 in)
Large Throw: 6 × 8 = 48 squares — 140.0 × 185.0 cm (55.1 × 72.8 in)
Each square is 22.5 cm (8.9 in). A table in the pattern gives the border counts for any other size you want to make.

🧶 MATERIALS NEEDED
Worsted weight (#4) yarn in 13 colours and cream:
13 colours: one square uses 42 m (45 yd); one 100 g / 180 m ball makes 4 squares — one ball of each colour is enough for the Square and Sofa Throws; the Large Throw needs 2 balls of 9 of the colours (the pattern lists which)
Cream: 510 m, 600 m, 920 m (558 yd, 656 yd, 1006 yd) by size
All yarn together: 1700 m, 2015 m, 3145 m by size
5.00 mm (US H/8) crochet hook
Yarn needle, 4 locking stitch markers
Gauge: rounds 1–4 of the square = 4 in / 10 cm; the finished square = 8.9 in / 22.5 cm

Questions makers ask

Do I need to print anything?
Not unless you want to. The pattern is a clean PDF you can follow straight from your phone, tablet, or laptop. If you'd rather work from paper, it prints on regular A4 or US Letter with no special setup — and the layout is designed so you're not wasting ink on backgrounds.
I'm a complete beginner — can I do this?
Absolutely. Our patterns are designed to be beginner-friendly, with clear, illustrated step-by-step instructions that guide you through the whole process. Thousands of first-time makers have crocheted our patterns with no prior experience.
How do I get my pattern after I buy?
Instantly. The moment your payment is confirmed, your files are ready to download — and we'll also email you a download link so you always have access. No waiting, no shipping.
Can I sell what I make?
Yes! You're welcome to sell finished items you make from our patterns. We just ask that you don't share, resell, or redistribute the pattern files themselves.
What yarn and hook do I need?
Every pattern lists the exact yarn weight, hook size, and yardage up front, along with the gauge swatch so your finished piece comes out the right size. You can substitute any yarn of the same weight — just check your gauge first.
What if I get stuck?
We're here to help. If anything's unclear or you run into trouble, just reach out by email and we'll get you back on track — usually within 24 hours.
